Well France now only has one remaining WWI veteran. I can only hope I live such a long life! All I can say is 110 is an amazing innings

Just read that story on another online newspaper.

What is interesting is that he took part in the Battle of the Somme in 1916, in which more than a million soldiers died.

I wonder what a soldier at the somme would have said if you'd told him he would still be alive at the start of 2008. Rather, I don't wonder, I know they'd have been incredulous.
