While all you guys there it is 6th Dec  its 7th Dec here I woke up to the first thing came to my mind was Pearl Harbour.

With their number quickly dwindling, survivors of Pearl Harbor will gather Thursday one last time to honor those killed by the Japanese 65 years ago, and to mark a day that lives in infamy.

This will be their last visit to this watery grave to share stories, exchange smiles, find peace and salute their fallen friends. This, they say, will be their final farewell.

"This will be one to remember," said Mal Middlesworth, president of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. "It's going to be something that we'll cherish forever."

The survivors have met here every five years for four decades, but they're now in their 80s or 90s and are not counting on a 70th reunion. They have made every effort to report for one final roll call.

I've been to the Arizona Memorial.

I've been to the Arizona Memorial.  When you look down and see the hulk in the murky waters, it really makes you reflect as you realize there's still 1000 men down in there.

Let us never forget the lessons history teaches us.

Until history repeats its self and we have to learn all over again  :'(

I visited the USS Arizona in 1999. I was awed by the signs of devastation still showing on Ford Island from the attack and the almost unreal sense of history that emanated from the memorial. During my visit I saw an elderly Japanese man at the rail, praying. When he was done I asked why he was praying. He told me that it was his slight form of atonement for his part in the raid. He then informed me he was one of the dive bomber pilots and he felt his bomb may have been the one that caused the explosion. He looked at me with fear and tears in his eyes. I told him that I was a friend and would not condemn him for what he had done. I also told him that we need to learn the lessons that conflict taught us. He agreed but stated some where, sometime, something similar will happen as people are too short sighted and thus will be doomed to repeat the actions that led to Pearl Harbor.

As time passes I see what a wise man he was. We, as a people, only care about the present. We don't want to relive the past and are content to ignore it. Pearl Harbor and 9-11 now share the same fate. Both tragedies are being forgotten by the masses or dismissed as irrelevant in the overall scheme of things.

I fear we are doomed to repeat the past again.

Managed to sit & watch Pearl Harbour on  my TV today.

Slushy crap love story aside, its a great & moving tribute to all who died that day.
