You learn something new everyday (so they tell me...).

Anyway, whilst perusing the internet tonight (wondering how on earth they could have demolished the "Elbe II" U boat pen in 2001 to build over it) I came across these. I was aware of the various designs of flak tower defending the Reich during the war, but not these somewhat ingenious air-raid shelters...

This is quite ironic.....

just two weeks ago whilst i was in germany I encountered one of these....we were walking to the bowling alley from Ludwigshafen Hauptbahnhof, and we saw one and asked our german hosts what it was.....they replied Air raid shelter and we all started making jokes about the war :D:D:D
