A phony invasion of Germany was made on the German side of the German/Polish border by Nazi S.S. troops wearing Polish uniforms. A number of installations were damaged and some dead German prisoners, dressed in Polish uniforms, were left as evidence of an alleged "unforgivable act of Polish aggression."

Chaotic confusion behind the Gothic Line (northern Italia) had been incessantly caused by Italian guerillas based in Siena. British General Harold Alexander's 8th Army surprises the Germans and smashes through the line via the Plain of Lombardy.
