An interesting article Dave, but based on some recent crashes in Europe and elsewhere I don't think letting planes get closer together is a good idea. Especially not over Swiss or French airspace

This is a timely post for me.. considering I've been studying the NOTAM for how to get in/out of Oskosh.. Boy will that be "fun"..    :o

I think the future of ATC is going to resemble the Internet. Each GPS equipped plane will "log on" to a giant web-page of sorts when they enter the system and will be constantly reporting their position, speed, heading and altitude. In turn.. they can monitor that "web-page".. along with every other palne, its onboard computer.. and all the ATC centers and their computers..

Quite literally..  We will all be on the same page..
