62 years ago today, the RAF dropped over 2,500 tons of bombs on the city of Caen in preparation for a final assault.

Interesting factoid. After the air assault on Cean the only building left undamaged was the Hospital that a young resistance worker marked out by making a red cross with bloody sheets in the court yard. Goes to show the professionalism of the RAF.
