The amazing and courageous raid by the Israelis was carried out on this day in Uganda to rescue kidnapped hostages of a plane hijacking. The cost for the rescuers, their leader Yonatan Netanyahu killed, and one hostage (in a Ugandan hospital not at the airport) murdered.

Moral of the story? Don't mess with the Israeli army! They're VERY good ;)
For those of you not familiar with the operation here is a short summary by the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5101412.stm

Sometime before 9/11, I belive, the US Army held war games with Israeli forces to evaluate how well the US could respond to an ataack.  When the Israeli's began to win on US home turf, the Army changed the rules. ;D

They darn well ought to be good.  At least there's one thing we [US] can say is using our tax dollars effectively. :P Last I heard Israel got $1,000 a day from the US.  Could be wrong.

I'll refrain from saying anything political about this...but yes, the Israelis are very good at that stuff. There is, however, some very interesting ironies in the story of the formation of that army though...
