In Memory

Observed today, according to the more recent 'holiday on Monday' rule, the traditional U.S. Memorial Day is the 30th of May. I offer this in memory of all, not only those in service of the United States, who served with honor:
I acknowledge the effort you made in honor,
From behind the lines to beyond the front,
Amidst assailing missiles and battle thunder,
Amidst all of the smoke, hearts pounding, and screaming horror.
For each of you slain is one's own unique story:
The parents, the spouse, the child left behind.
Yet your honor is tinged in but hollow glory
If heeded as no more than a long lost memory.
MAY WE ALWAYS REMEMBER
