Its probably been posted here before, but which decade of the twentieth century would you most want to witness?

Me- 1960's.  Political unrest, social reformation, thrilling aviation landmarks.

Probably the 1960s for me as well.  Mainly because of the space race.  I would have loved to have witnessed the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs first hand.

I've actually witnessed 6 decades & part way through a 7th. Now if you asked me which of those decades would be the best to grow up in I would have to say the 1960s. I wouldn't change a thing even if I could.

Tough question. I don't really know what my answer would be. I can think of several reasons why I'd like to have grown up in several decades...

Thirties. Just so I can save my money and be rich from $1,000! Muahaha! Bell AT&T here I come..

Actually either the 1760's-80's or the 1940's. I love American Revolutionary history and WWII history.

Which would I like to witness?
Definatly the 1940's sort of a fly on the wall type witness. See how Churchill worked in private, and so on.

The first decade 1900 - 1910.  The high watermark of the British Empire....

Which decade of the 20th century? Heavens, I'm having a hard enough time contending with this one!
Truthfully, I like reading about ancient history and sometimes suffer from a surrealistic nostalgia (missing an era as if I'd lived through it although I didn't).  8)

I suspect everyone has fond memories of the time they were growing up & naturally regard them as the best times. While the late Fifties & early Sixties was my time (& a very exciting time it was for any young person to grow up) I wouldn't wish to live it all over again. It might be interesting to see it as a fly on the wall but life was very tough for ordinary people in my country in the first half of the 20th Century, especially during two terrible World Wars.

1920's. The ultimate decade for big boat racing. And the birth of British aviation supremecy. The Empire wasn't bad then either.

Did the 60's and 70's. Didn't care for the 80's ( Music Sucked ).  My Daughter was born in the 90's so that made them great.  Just starting the new decade so i'm not to sure yet.

  I guess I would like to see what the 40's were like.  I love the aviation of that era.  Would not mind doing the 70's again because I had a blast

Just starting? You've mentioned 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. It's 2006...  either half of a decade has passed you by already or you've already started past 2010!

The world was first  blessed with my presence in 1963... part of why that was such a great decade.
 Saw the 60s through the eyes of a child, of course, but it was and still is for me a high point in American culture: in design , in the arts  , in technology, in political thought and action, in ethics,  in all the little things that people do every day...not perfect; i could've done without the Vietnam War on the TV at dinnertime or the almost unbearable tension and tragedies of the  political/social  upheaval and the Cold War, but those were just the toll paid for so many good things, maybe.
 Sadly, we seem to be on a downslope since then... but it's good to still be around, and there's no reason we can't hit the heights again...

Well me, the 1920's would be awesome, the Great war just ended and American life was on the rise, plus I could so get rich on the stock market and right before the 1929 crash pull my money with the info i have today. thats the decade i would want.
