You were aiming at it? You mean the real reason it isn't flying is because you shot it down with your 88! >:(  8)

Technological achievements, financial disaster.

BTW, I saw a PBS documentary on the race for a supersonic transport.  It was fascinating.  There was Boeing, England and France, and Tupolov.  Boeing bowed out early due to not being able to forcast an SST to make them money.  The Russians engaged in espionage against the French and the British.  They were unsuccessful with the British, but got lots of stolen data from the French which amounted to them producing their SST with a striking similarity to the Concord.  But the Tupolov was fatally flawed even though it flew first.

Not certain about fatal flaws as I believe they had more than one accident. It came out later that the first highly publicised one at the Paris Air Show was caused by the pilot trying to avoid a collision with French Air Force Mirage spy planes that weren't supposed to be there & flew too close to it. At least one example was purchased by NASA & used for experimental work long after it was officially withdrawn from service. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/dryden/news/FactSheets/FS-062-DFRC.html

the Concord.

It's spelled with an E & was always referred to as Concorde wih no 'the' prefix.

Hagar,

Heh, I spend 6 months working for NASA at Edwards when I was in college.  The agreement was NASA was going to hire me after I graduated, but my wife HATED!!!!!! living in the desert, so I didn't go to work for NASA.  But I'll always remember those 6 months for the rest of my life.
