On this day in 1966, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise takes off on its mission to "boldly go where no man has gone before," with the premiere of Star Trek.
Now this is an interesting discussion topic - Was Start Trek a visionary's idea of the future and what mankind could expect, or was it a collection of social statements reflecting the turbulent times (racism, sexual relations, cultural mores, etc) of the mid sixties, but SET in the "future" ?
