Eagle II

Well on this day in 1978 Eagle II with her crew Ben Abruzzo, Larry Newman and Max Anderson completed the flight from Maine in the US to France after 6 days. The first successful crossing of the Atlantic by balloon 8)

But that was long after the first successful crossing while filled with hot air.
[I may need to deflate and employ parachute before I get shot with a counter-claim for that one :P ;D]
