Yugoslav Republic Forces invaded Slovenia after it declared independence from Yugoslavia. This was the beginning of a decade (and 4 terrible) wars in the Balkans, I was a witness to the last one and I've seen the destruction caused by the first three.
I hope one day these people can find peace and a way to live with one another as the Balkans are a truely beautiful place and the majority of the people are genuinely nice...

Slovenia was the only country that got off lightly in all the Balkan wars, it had a four day conflict (if memory serves)....
