Frank Lee Morris, Clarence and John Anglin escaped Alcatraz on this day in 1962 opinion is divided as to whether they succeeded in their escape, drowned or were eaten by sharks.
The FBI reckons they didn't make it, I'm not convinced...
Oh and the film of this amazing escape (Escape From Alcatraz) with Clint Eastwood isn't bad

Although no one knows for sure whether they made it (except for the three themselves) I wouldn't believe the FBI. They're not going to want to admit that their escape proof prison was not quite as escape proof as they like everyone to think.

An interesting day in history, this is one of my favorite mysteries.  Personally, I don't think they made it-but who knows.  That's what makes it so interesting.  

Aye, Alcatraz is a very interesting palce to visit!
