I want to keep this a wide topic; no idea is too wild.

Your mission is to invade and occupy America.  How do you do it?

I assume you mean the USA. America is a big continent.

Well, this is a good one.

First I would land a force of 4000 men at Chesapeake Bay who would advance inland to Washington and burn down the White house (we've done it before we can do it again). After sacking Washington these troops would then withdraw back to Chesapeake bay and would be extracted ready for the next phase.

Then I would land a force in Alaska, take control of the state and use it as a toehold for invading the rest of the country.

Once this has been achieved I will launch Cruise missile strikes at powerstations through-out the country. (The stations that supply the biggest area's will have priority.)

Now that the nation is in disarray I will launch airstrikes against major bridges and more Cruise missiles at radar sites and satallite communication installations.

Finally missile attacks and airstrikes will be launched against airports/fields/bases to take out a proportion of the airforce while it's still on the ground.


Now for the land war. Invade Florida, take control and secure. The same will be done on the West coast with the Baja California. This will give us a base with which to assult the mainland.

Move inland with air superiority covering advance.

Accept surrender.

Gather a strong invasion force in Canada and Mexico and overrun the country. "Blitzkrieg" needs a revival...

Tons of nukes might work,too.

Who needs to invade ...... theres far more fun ways to cause havock.

Several well placed EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) devices in major cities and near military installations and you wouldnt have to invade ... chaos would ensue due to lack of electricty.

Just fly in and take over.

I do remember military simulation board games (70s and 80s;  Simulations Publications Inc, Avalon Hill, etc) and one of them "Invasion America" presupposed an invasion of a politically and militarily weakened USA.

The movie "Red Dawn" also posited such an invasion, ultimately defeated.

I think that a military invasion of the unified United States is not winnable.  The conditions for an invasion would presuppose a greatly weakened socio-political structure to the point where the Union itself would be unsustainable.  Before an invasion could occur, there would be  breaking apart of the Republic into separate "countries".
