Just saying - this is the anniversary of the Battle of Jutland, the last major encounter between battleship fleets.

Understandable - there were no Spitfires involved, so it's not considered a major event.

Jutland was a pivotal moment in naval history. A major fleet action that was really fought in pieces by local commanders...more like a melee than an organized battle.

The last engagement would come at Surigao Strait when an outclassed Japanese force would be hammered by a US BB force using radar fire control. It marks the end of the "Dreadnought" era.

I'd just popped into the History forum to post a topic on this when what do I find? Felix has posted it a day early. ::)

It should be noted that the last surviving veteran of Jutland died only a few months ago, so now everyone who fought in that battle is dead.
