From reading all the theories (I think) I believe it's more than likely that Adolf Hitler committed suicide. This is by no means certain, just as I'll never be 100% convinced that it was Saddam Hussein's sons that were killed a few months ago. This is the problem when you don't actually capture whoever you might be after alive.

I think it's like all "conspiracy theories". I feel that there is at least enough reason to doubt some "official" stories that Joe Public is expected to believe. Unfortunately we will probably never know the real truth so it's not worth bothering about.

In the short few years of peace that Hitler was in power leading up to the second world war he had non agression treaties with Joseph Stalin a stipulation of which was that The German army would be allowed to use Russian equipment, land and Bases in order to train new recruits. This was banned by international law stemming from World War One, but russia allowed this as a means of avoiding war. After the beginning of WW2, in an ultimate act of betrayal Adolf Hitler's agressive movements into Russia and the Ukraine known as Operation Barbarosa began. In the events that followed for the next three years the number of russian soldiers and civilians killed stood even with that of the Jewish losses of the same period. (Some historians argue the number of Russian dead outnumber even that of the Jewish) This meant that there was little or no mercy in the heart any Russian Soldier fighting in Berlin. Adolf hitler and Eva braun, one day after their makeshift wedding joined together into suicide in order to avoid the harshest of punishments Russia could devise.

Many aristocratic NAZI figureheads did in fact escape to south american countries such as Argentina - Buenos Aries, however a large number of the fleeing NAZIs did so well before any occupying forces ever reached German soil, and well before Hitler in all his madness abandoned hope for repelling the allied advances.

Personally i feel that given the above information, if the Russians were just down the street, and i had been responsable for the deaths of millions of their brothers, fathers mothers and sisters the suicide option is looking pretty good about now!

Had Adolf hitler escaped to any nation with the guts enough to grant him political retreat is of little or no consequence at this point.

Of course the russian military and civilian dead far out stripped the number of jews killed in the war. Estimates run at as many as 40 million russians dying in WWII.

i claim to be a study of WW2 yet i couldnt remember the exact figures on the russian losses(i thought it was somewhat lower than 40 million), i didnt want to over step any boundries which might make the jewish loss sound trivial... thanks.

I read a novel a while back, I believe it was called The Berkut, in which Hitler killed a body double and escaped, pursued by a lone Soviet specialist in that sort of thing.  The Soviet was in turn followed by an English or American spy type.

It was OK.  I won't spoil the ending for you other than to say it was not pleasant for the former Fuerher.

I tend to agree up to a point. Sometimes it's better not to know what these people get up to in my name. However, I prefer them to be accountable & to tell the truth. Then if I disagree it is my right to say so & hopefully stop them - although I'm none too confident about that. The only reason I know for telling lies is to hide something. The capability for lying convincingly seems to be the prime qualification for a politician these days.
