Wait a sec.
The Chernobyl AES had more reactors. I am pretty sure that after they made the sarcauphagus over reactor 4, operations continued in the remaining reactors untill almost 2000. So anyone know HOW they continued operations?

Sorry for misphrasing. But I have also heard about levels of radiation there being above max recomended for humans. I assume that the other reactors were not run by computers. The other reactors were close to the epicenter...so how do the people working there survive?

They dont. From that link Hagar posted (wich was awsome!) I found out that they closed the plant completely in 2000. They are going to have to build a new containment thing (cant spell the real name for it!) for the reactor soon though.

But how did it function untill it closed in 2000?  ???

Here is a news article that was published in 2000 when the final reactor was shut down.
