50 years (and one day)

Postby Mictheslik » Wed Nov 07, 2007 2:07 pm

a day late in posting this but....

On November 6th 1957, Bristol Britannia G-ANCA came down about half a mile from my current house....it crashed exactly 3 hours before my dad was born ;)

lots of memorial services in the last couple of days in the local churches....15 crew members were on board, but noone on the ground was injured

I would have been 14 in 1957 & have vague memories of that. Looking at the newsreel footage it's a wonder nobody on the ground was seriously hurt. I believe that G-ANCA was the first prototype Britannia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downend_air_crash
