25 years ago today, Argentina launched an attack against HMS Hermes using two of her five Exocet  missiles as a retaliatory attack for the sinking of the Belgrano (formally USS Phoenix, a Pearl Harbour survivor) two days before. They missed, but one struck HMS Sheffield, killing 20 and injuring 24.
Also today the first Harrier aircraft was lost in combat mission to attack Goose Green. The pilot Lt Nick Taylor the first casualty of the war was killed.

As a side note, I was at the same school as his son. Your father is killed in combat and you get sent to boarding school at the age of six.............life sucks sometimes.
"A bit of a pickle" - British translation: A catastrophically bad situation with potentially fatal consequences.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
