01:23 AM. Chernobyl explodes, contaminating the surrounding area. Mi-26 Halo's are scrambled to the site in order to help remove waste. The town of Pripyat is evacuated. Nikolai Melnik, one of Kamov Industries top pilots, is called in to place radiation sensors on Reactor #4.

This means alot to me, specifically because my dad died of cancer, one of the main effects of Chernobyl...

1941: The first time an organ was played at a baseball stadium (Chicago).

1989: Carol Burnett, American Emmy Award-winning entertainer/comedienne, received news that her long-time friend, American comedienne/actress Lucille Ball, had just died. Later that day, Carol received the flowers, annually sent to her, with the card, "Happy Birthday, Kid. Love, Lucy." It was Carol's 70th birthdate.

Pripyat was evacuated on the 27th...


And the incident was kept secret until a few days after.
