A major milestone...

The bikini was first introduced to a stunned public on this day 60 years ago... meanwhile topless girls in the South Pacific no doubt shrugged and wondered what all the fuss was about... ;D

Who remembers the significance of the name "Bikini", and why it was chosen at that time?  ;)

The french designer of the Bikini thought that it had the same type of impact as the test detonations (nuclear weapons) at Bikini Atoll.

He may have been right. :)

That's a sad analogy -- that type of blast usually leaves many more tiny pieces surrounding and nothing inside... :o :'(
