Helicopter Crash at CYKF

Postby SaultFresh » Tue Nov 29, 2011 12:49 am

I know there are a lot of people that fly in and out of CYKF and the surrounding area in the forum. I was at CYKF before this happened this morning, having an interview at the local flight school, I may have seen the doomed helicopter takeoff, but I'll never know. I'm just glad more people weren't fatally wounded, or just wounded in general.

Yesterday the Medivac with the survivor flew over our job site at low altitude on route to Hamilton General. I haven't heard anything about his condition yet.

I too saw an update about the instructor. Thanks for the update. It just seems surreal that something terrible decided to happen here. As for the poor student, all I've heard is that he had severe non-life threatening spinal injuries, which means that even though only one fatality occurred, the aviation community has lost two. I wish him best of luck in his recovery though, and I wish the Hanna's all the best in their period of grief as well.
The Ornge Chopper frequently flies over my house enroute to Hamilton, it's kind of unsettling actually. It's like, oooo Helicopter, and then it's like... oh... Ornge.
