That article is typically misleading. The accident involved a turboprop engine from a C-130 Hercules. It was mounted on a test stand less prop at the time of the incident.

For once the Daily Mail got it right. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2023631/New-Zealand-man-sucked-plane-engine.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

SAD :'( But i was reading the comments and that just shows haw trolls are everywhere >:( >:(. And typical news on a website such as yahoo. showing a turbofan instead of a propeller. That could really mislead people >:(. That article was almost as Osama kill shot on ABC ::)

Odd story, that needs the accident report to clarify rather than the press. Running a turbo prop without a prop attached, would destroy the engine. Normally, a water wheel and large water tank are attached to simulate the prop. When attached, there is very little space left to get sucked in..............

awwwwn man! this sucks literally!

I mean accidents happens , and sometime we take stupid risks ..maybe the "experienced engineer " didn't take the cautions as it should

  at least was fast

sorry for their family who has to deal and face this tragedy caused by himself

Sorry for being a little bit cold ,but the facts are very clear
