Don't show this to anyone who gets airsick or is a nervous passenger. If I'd not watched the video I wouldn't have believed it myself :o :o :o

Looks like something wrong with the hydraulic servos, when looking at the ailerons they go from full up to full down at the maximum speed

"The plane had not been flown for up to 10 years, and it was apparently being flown to a repair centre from Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow, on 29 April."

Read, the aircraft had sat in a corner of the airfield for 10 years subject to all weather that was thrown at it. No anti det maintenance had been performed and was until recently regarded as a derelict by most people at the airport. The crew should have known better

That's what I was thinking.

I am curious of the qualifications of the crew, seeing as they would even get in such a poorly maintained aircraft.

If you watch the control surfaces during the oscillations, it almost looks like it was pilot induced, overcorrection.  Unless there is an issue with the control system itself.

These poor blokes were probably raised under the Soviet system which didn't encourage people to ask questions or disobey orders.
I'm still amazed they got the plane down in one piece!
