28.8 million isn't to bad for a preowned shuttle. I think NASA could get more on Ebay though.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/09/scien ... tle&st=cse5 year financing can be arranged with NASA..

If you
really think about it, it is worthless bit of junk now. Gutted no double of valuable items and precious metals. How have they come up with such a figure? If they get no takers (granted not likely) what would they do with it. Trying to make 30 million or there abouts is a piss in the NASA ocean. They should give it away to the air and space museum or the air force museum

That pretty sums up why I can't get a shuttle.

You never know, it might end up in Jeremy Clarkson's front yard.

I think it is more Hammond than Clarkson, but saying that May would spend all hit time taking it apart and looking inside access panels

Captain Slow would love it, a big toy to tinker with. Besides Hampster is a rotor-head

Perhaps if I demolished my house, it would fit on my lot. Then I could convert the whole craft into a really cool house. Just think of all the toys you could cram into the payload bay (maybe even use the arm to lift them in and out).

It wouldn't be sitting in MY front yard! I'd be using it. I'm not sure if my local airport is designed for Shuttle launches... I'll make it work.
