Jump seat

Perks of the job, I got the jump seat in a Q400. A nice flight with a clear skys, visibility was unrestricted and it was very smooth. We were lined up, nice approach, nice touch down and a gentle coast down the runway bleeding speed. All very sedentary. Then two of the largest hares I have ever seen, lopped out into the middle of the runway and sat down. Now I am not one for exaggeration, but I have seem smaller Shetland ponies :o. Now I don't know if anyone has experience of a hare or rabbit strike, but the damage can run into $$$$$$$$$$. Not sure if the pilot acted on me, or it he was doing his own thing, but after the words from me, "hit them and you will be AOG for a week", I was hanging in the seat belts and trying not to become one with the centre pedestal. I now have a nice welt under my chin/neck from the seat strap. The Q400 is such a cheap bit of crap, would you believe that the jump seat seat belt is the same as a car seat belt!! Any way, I like to think I saved the day ;D ;D

Welcome to the pointy end Matt... ;D

I have experienced several windscreen bird strikes at altitude, on take-off and landing.
