I just saw this on the news,
Boeing Stearman Biplane Flips Over At DCAHaven't discovered what happened yet, but I bet that had to be scary, and rather embarrassing.

They're probably lucky that they escaped "unscathed". Hard pavement + flipping something with an open cockpit = trouble....

Yaaarggg... that was hard to watch. I'm also guessing the brakes were applied (or stuck)... it went over pretty much as soon as it touched down. Too bad- it was a nice landing, otherwise.
Good thing it was a Stearman- they're built like tanks.

Only the left side wheel appears to be be locked up. Did they use roller bearings on those axles?

Wow, first time a GA plane gets to land at DCA in years, and this happens.

Looks like he was planning to touch on the mains (wheel landing) and pushed, to stick it, a little too soon - sec 26 from the video, he was already pointed downhill before the mains touched.

Looks to me he was doing a wheel landing, but the brakes locked up.

Oops indeed. No matter how it happened. I can only say to the one who filmed it: Get A Tripod!!!!! All you see is a shaking video, max zoomed in and at the moment the plane flips I see plenty of sky and clouds. When will people finally learn that you can't video anything like this without a proper support.
Rant over.
Carlo

(have a nice day nonetheless)

At least the Pilot was OK...and no fire!

Just watched another video (CNN) which showed the complete touchdown and it appeared both tires were smoking before he flipped.
