Space Shuttle Atlantis has landed

Postby Tai-2 » Fri Nov 27, 2009 5:37 pm

Yes 5 hours late, but i was on the road.
And I cannot believe what I saw too. I saw some of the parts being transported from Fl as I was on the highway.
We saw one of the solid rocket  boosters and some piece that can be best describe as something with two metal boxed on each each, and something that looked like white pipes(seen multiple of these trucks and they traveled in the opposite direction.
Best way I can describe it here:

Launch/landing videos here:

No pictures of the parts :( they were moving in the opposite direction of me

Cool. I missed the landing myself.

As the resident NASA nerd, I can't identify the "pipes" you described. Are you sure they were part of the shuttle? Maybe someone else will know.

I am sure they were... but I am not an expert

I thought to my self why would 2 flat beds(like 25-40 miles apart(wasn't counting)) carry one set of what ever this was) I would think they wouldnt waste a flate bed for 4 tiny pipes, and they were far away from the one original

Yeah, they could be used to attach the shuttle to the 747, but yet again, wouldn't there be 4 of them?

Anyway glad to see they are back home safely. Thanks for this!

might of been stacked next to each other, but who knows, couldnt get any shots... the only thing that had a convoy of yellow flashing lights(non emergancy vehicles) was the rocket part, the other two flat beds I saw nothing near them.
