The gear caused the plane to nose over?
Seems like it went under pretty fast, being that no one bailed out before it was submerged.

A floatplane like that will flip right over if you touch down on water with the gear extended... often with very serious injuries to the occupants (which makes it harder for everyone to get out, 'specially with the cabin underwater right away).
There's a video clip out there that shows such an accident as it occurs..."Insane Floatplane Crash", I think it's called.

Would now appear the pilot is being investigated with possible manslaughter charges.
