An American passenger jet has been forced to make an emergency landing after a football-sized hole was found in its fuselage. Skip related content

Would that be your football, or ours?

...my read was interrupted by the statement; "It was travelling at an altitude of 9,144 metres when the problem began".

I am still trying to convert 9,144 Metres into good-old-fashioned Feet and Inches.....as I do... ::)...!

Paul...Queen Victoria still rules!...;)...!

Now I'm very confused!   :-/

I always thought that the entire wold was on Metric while we lagged behind with our system of measurments.

Metric makes nice uniform sense to me.  ;)

I couldn't convert them if my life depended on it. ;D

Sorry to drag it off topic, to get back on it, I just seen this on our news, and they said the hole opened up all the way to the passenger compartment! :o

A passenger said he could look straight up and see the sky.  :-/

Is that a special panel where the hole is?

It doesn't look like it was caused by an outside factor, and there's no tearing of metal from the angle we can see.

Looks like an access panel of some kind popped open.
