Do they know what happened?

Departure stall? Seems most likely...

A wind-shear induced departure stall (of sorts), is my guess. Not so much a departure stall (as in trying to outclimb your thrust)(pretty tough to do in a jet).. but enough of a drop in airspeed when the wind changed, to change a climb into a nose-up descent.. instantly..

I won't speculate further..

I don't think the plane ever left the runway, so I would rule out a departure stall.  Something caused the crew to abort takeoff and run off the side of the runway.  Kudos to the Denver fire crews for a job well done.  Of course the plane did stop just outside of the firestation.   ;D
