Jeez...it's frightening sometimes how fragile the human body and brain can be. I hope that copilot's going to be OK - but his flying career is certainly over. :(

Still, props to the crew for handling the situation so well and props especially to the flight attandant for covering the chair - that must've been a pucker moment for her; no mistake. :)

Personally, I've got a lot of respect for flight attendants; they tend to be a much overlooked and underestimated part of an aircrew - considered glorified waitresses, etc. rather than the trained professionals they are. (Though it was bloody lucky she had her commercial ticket and didn't have to go to the passengers looking for a pilot...) Good job to them for dealing with the situation safely, quietly and professionally.

:)

Very old story, happened last year. Also the stewardess, had a  commercial pilots license. She was working as a stewardess because she could not get a job as a pilot in the economic climate. Bit of a no story really, pilot is replaced by another pilot, but that would not really sell newspapers though.

Said in the story that she was chosen only after they found there were no pilots on the flight.

Until the inevitable question...

"So which button toggles the spot/tower view?"

She was not current on instruments that is why.

There's actually a fair chance of having a current airline pilot paxing on quite a high percentage of airline flights - even if they weren't 767 rated, they would ultimately be preferable.
