Fly in

Postby OldReliable » Sat Aug 30, 2008 8:35 pm

I am going to my local airport in a few weeks for a fly-in. I was just wondering what to expect for cost of an airplane ride. Do they do it at an hourly rate? I am hoping that this will be a good experience, as I havn't been in an airplane since I was 5.

Generally there is a flat fee for a short hop; the price depends on a lot of things... for starters, the fuel probably costs at least twice what it did when you were 5 (even if you're under 20). ;)
If you're clever and lucky, at any decent fly-in you might be able to wangle a free ride. ;)

Ok, I got in a flight yesterday. It was hazy/foggy so we flew just below that ick. about 1800ft? pretty sweet, little turbulance. It was $15 and we flew for 10-15 minutes.

That sounds like good value in anyone's language. Hope you enjoyed it.

Ya I did have fun. I forgot to mention that some warbirds gave us a show and I got to go touch it. Made all the other planes look wimpy.
