I'm not sure British Airways makes that much money out of european flights.

It's certainly very quiet over my house tonight, I'm on the southern flightpath to/from LHR.
I've just been having a cigarette in the garden and normally see 6-7 inbounds and plenty of overheads. I didn't see a sinlge aircraft and there are no contrails in the sky..
It's almost spooky  ;D

If i read the BBC article correctly, the error is in the secondary radar is the cause

Air traffic controllers could still see where planes were, but were finding it difficult to identify them, he said.


I guess the controllers are having to use Squawk identification a lot more right now, with several changes to make sure they have got the right guys which is probably the cause of the delay due to reduced safety element of such a system
