From a reliable source:

With the official opening of JetBlues new T5 set for Monday we have word that we might get a special AC visitor for the opening. I officially cannot tell you what it might be yet but it will definitly be worth looking out for it. As soon as I get the official word I will post it here.
In as far as the festivities the official ribbon cutting is Monday @ 2:00 (Invitation only) and the after party from 3 on is also invitation only. There is a pre-party from 9-12 that will have the unofficial ribbon cutting and family and friends are invited.

There's a credible rumor that it's a Constellation. For those not aware, Terminal 5 used to be the TWA terminal (TWA Flight Center). After AA bought out TWA in 2001, the terminal closed. In late 2005, construction began for JetBlue to use the terminal as their own. The terminal is now complete, and to commemorate the opening, they're supposedly flying in a Connie from California. There's two ex-USAF C-121's in California and one ex-TWA Connie in Kansas City. Since it's coming from CA, it's probably going to be the C-121, but we will see.

"...now where did I leave that Kodachrome?" :)

when i was the brand new green horn pilot on the field the old salt FBO owner said to me that he was type rated on the constellation and used to fly them in the airlines.

i was impressed with his story but had him pegged for a bullshitter until he showed me the type rating on his old frayed certificate.

he said to me

"You know... madnatory retirement for the airlines is 60, but the biggest shame... whenever you turn just 35 they remove the constellation type rating from your qualifications."

i was surprised and asked him why.

"it takes a young man to handle three tails at the same time"

;D

I would love to see pics of the Connie, if it is a Connie that will be there. ;)

I would but since I'm be sent to Orlando from Sept. 28th until Oct. 1st I can't take anytime off this week to make sure everything is in order before I leave.  :(

Once you post all the shots you have taken i'll feel like i've been there!! ;)

It turns out that it won't be a Connie. Rather, a Lockheed Electra. I've shot this particular one before, so I won't be heading out.
