Anyone else going to the Kemble open days next weekend? Can't decide between sat or sun, guess I'll leave it up to the weather

That's great news. I thought we'd lost G-VFWE for ever. I'm tempted but his rotten weather will have to improve considerably to make it worthwhile.

Same here, and I read somewhere they'll be holding a proper stand alone event at Kemble next year for the G-VFWE   :) [smiley=happy.gif]

Mic,

Thanks for the heads up. My work programme has been changing fairly rapidly and regularly, and when first saw the adverts I knew I couldn't go, so promptly forgot about it.

Hopefully, work permitting, I'll make it, probably the Saturday.

The last time I went to Kemble was on detachment many, many, many moons ago. It was so cold, the aircraft froze to the tarmac and we could not tow them off the pan (in the days before global warning). Also in one of the hangers there was a civilian aircraft maintenance company. The hanger was full of as I recall F20 and F5's painted in Russian schemes. They where part of the Aggressor Squadron. No idea why they where serviced in the UK though.......It was the equivalent of a major in RAF terms.

If I can find somewhere to stay, I'll try and be there on Saturday (weather dependant too).  :)

P.S: Yeah, I think G-VFWE is at Kemble next year, May 9/10th http://www.airshows.org.uk/2009/calendar/may.html.   :D

Well, what an enjoyable day....:)

The weather cleared up after heavy fog in the morning and at around mid-day the pattern was filled with up to 6/7 aircraft at one point....(including an interesting double approach on the grass and concrete). I'm so glad that the G-VFWE has been saved :)

I also got a nice look inside the tower and enjoyed the small air display :)

Definitely worth it  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Twas as well Mic, couldn't agree more. The funniest bit for me was when the commentators switched over to the Red Arrows radio and RED 1 was going a bit mad with superlatives and exuberance! Didn't let it happen the time they took off  ;D
