...!Its like all cases when you cause severe and expensive damage to property, etc, through negligence (or otherwise), who foots the bill for all the recovery/repairs?
Example: Your car catches fire on the Motorway, melts the Tar over a large area, and closes the Motorway for repairs...
You lost control of your car and brought down a complete overhead Motorway bridge......!
...who pays for it all, especially if the fault was entirely your own?

I wouldn't be worried. If that's his personal plane and he's flying in Germany, he'$ loaded. GA flying over there is not affordable in the least.
