1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I'm fed up with reading this nonsense.
Eyewitnesses have praised the pilot of the Cessna for steering the plane away from a housing estate.

This was a mid-air collision with debris spread over a wide area. I doubt either pilot could do anything about where it landed.

PS. I see this one landed safely after all. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080818/ap_on_re_us/plane_evacuation

I suppose the sky always appears to be a very big place....

....until you get to the airport, and everyone it trying to land/circle at the same time..

..a dangerous place for the unwary... :'(...!

Mid-air collisions, I suppose, are quite rare?

The skies over me are full of Microlights, Flex-wings, Kit planes, etc, buzzing around, and I often wonder how, or if, they are able keep in radio contact with ATC and all those around them?

Paul...G-BPLF...!

Very bad news for the unfortunates involved!

The American media is quick to jump on the aviation security bandwagon anytime something like this stolen plane happens.  Just last year some investigative reporter aired a story where he went to a little grass strip and was shocked to find no big fences or security forces to stop him from accessing the airfield.

The thing that kills me is, I can walk right up to your car in the parking lot and that isn't news, but the fact that some twit reported can walk up to an airplane is a national crisis and winds up on Dateline or 60 minutes.  The media can't seem to tell the difference between a 100,000 lbs airliner carrying thousands of gallons of fuel, and a small GA plane that isn't any bigger or dangerous than your average car.

I work at an airport, and I can tell you a fence is nothing more than a false sense of security.  Fences only keep the honest people out.  All it would take a dishonest person to get past the fence is to climb over or a $25 pair of bolt cutters.

Perception trumps effectiveness among the uneducated pretty much always.  The TSA is nothing more than grand theater to keep the sheep in line and quiet.  Unfortunately they haven't let some of the employees in on it, and they go about mucking things up for everyone.

Did you see the news article last week about the TSA employee who damaged 9 American Eagle aircraft by using the pitot tubes to climb on top of the aircraft.  ::)
