Dawlish Carnival Airshow 08

Postby Mictheslik » Fri Aug 08, 2008 9:37 am

This Thursday....now I have a dilemma.....Mach loop (Valley photocall) or Dawlish :P

Just released timings......theres some interesting stuff for a show in its infancy. (Last year was rather sedate, with Red arrows, BBMF, Typhoon Seaking, Blue Eagles and AACHF)

12.30 - 5.30

Flying

RAF Role Demonstration
The Royal Jordanian Falcons
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
The RAF Typhoon
RN Seaking Display with the RNLI Lifeboats
RAF Tucano
The Army Air Corps Historical Flight
Hawker Hunter
Beech 18
Naval Historical Flight Wasp helicopter
The Red Arrows
KC135 tanker fly past
Former Red Arrow Folland Gnat (G-NATY)

What a great haul considering the size of the event......Role demo, hunter, Jordanian Falcons and KC135 all being big plusses (if they turn up)

Sounds fairly good a line up, but its a non starter for me this year, just about to buy a telephoto extension for my camera(

I'll be there, though might not go if it looks like rain! Will you be up on the hill Mic?

Just a few shows left now, what a rubbish season! I'll be at... Dawlish, Shoreham, Shuttleworth Pageant, and hopefully Duxford.

As I said....it depends on the weather in Wales.....if it looks nice up in the loop I'll have a couple of days up there to catch some interesting visitors for the valley photocall (hopefully), but if it's pants and looks nicer down south I'll be on the cliff again ;)

Not sure if I'm going to go... I have to get up very early and travel for 2 1/2 hours to get there and it looks likely to rain.

Thought it was worth posting this, I think you can work out on what we've just missed out on...

Just read on another forum that the Belgian Special tailed C-130 will be making a flypast or two on it's to / from RAF Valley.

Which forum is that by the way....? Great that we've got our own rumour mill now!

If the weather's as bad down there as it is here I doubt you missed much. It's been raining on & off & the wind has been howling all day. Doesn't look promising for the Airbourne event which starts tomorrow. :'(

I see one of the Tutors has arrived at Shoreham for the show. One of the few airport movements today. Cloud base is 1,000 feet or less, a lot worse than it looks on the webcam. http://www.shorehamairport.co.uk/webcam.asp

PS. The Tucanos have arrived now too.

I might still try Dawlish tomorrow.......:)

totally gutted by the B2s today......Nebraska was all ready to go at 2, engines were started but it went tech!

we left at about 5, having visited Brize for a bit before coming back to FFD (heard a call on the scanner saying give them 2 hors, so we did), and it turns out Nebraska went out at 6 :(
