What do you guys do on a long haul fight, especially flights with no ptv. I've got a 13 hour 747 coming my way with no tvs, and no laptop power. I think I might go crazy!

Buy a PSP and a spare battery. That's what I did. :) Or take a friend and a set of Trivial Pursuit cards. :D

Sleep  ;)

Because of a 4am takeoff the other year I ended up staying awake for about 2 and a half to 3 days... but it was worth it. Man did I sleep after that  ;D

Alternatively you could buy a book or as above, a handheld.

I usually pop a tylenol pm and settle in with a good book, within the hour you should be sleeping like a baby, I call it "time travel"   8-)

Well, having just had an 8 hour flight with a 3 year old and a 5 year old and no children's in flight entertainment, it involved a fully charged laptop, portable DVD player and a Phillip's Go Gear, and the DVD's, Cars, The Incredible's, Pingu and Winnie the Pooh. I have to say it worked well. Me though, any book by Bill Bryson or Jeremy Clarkson.

Never been on a flight that long, but I generally can't sleep on planes, so I like to read or look out the window on longer flights.

At lest your on a plane, I had to take a Greyhound bus before for an 12 hour trip at would only take 40 mins by plane. No inflight movies on a bus now that is boring. ;D

If you find yourself getting drowsy, and nodding off to sleep, or getting a bit of a headache, just open a window for some fresh air..... :)...!

Ignore the Cabin Crew's complaints!... >:(...!

Paul... ;D... ;D.... ;D.....!

Spend the whole flight staring out the window in amazement and trying to assess what the pilots and plane are doing... running procedures through my head.... V1...... V2.... Rotate....

Back in the good old days of long haul we had two real options;
read a book.
try and get a stewardess to join the mile high club with you.
Failing that sleep....

I'd take a good book and maybe some magazines that interest you. I haven't flown long haul for years, the last time was Heathrow- Singapore-Perth (well, reverse actually  :P ) on a 747-400, the LHR-SIN leg being 13 hours. I got lucky on that flight, there were 4 people in our party and we had all 4 seats of the middle row..EACH! A few beers, some nice food, eye candy (have you seen the Singapore Airlines stewardesses?.. stunning  :-* ) and a good 8 hour sleep on all 4 seats. It was like a flat bed..

Here's hoping you get lucky like that too  ;)
