As i sort of mentioned in Mic's thread, i am hoping to do some proper spotting trip after the end of my exams (18th of June). As the title says, i would really like to go to Heathrow, mainly as every other time i have been there, I have been confined to the terminals. Just wondering if anyone else would be interesting in going and meeting up?

I have checked already, and the transport isnt an issue for me (

Remember that 27L will only be in use for landings if the wind is favourable, and then it will only be until 3PM ;)

If the wind is the other way 09L is almost always used for landings, and there's a good field under the approach to that, and it's a quick bus ride from Hatton Cross ;)

I'll see what I can do though :)

Cheers for the tips Mic. I knew that :-[ 8-) Another Question i have for anyone who has spotted there before; are steps or a ladder needed for Spotting at LHR or could i get away without them? I know there is a bank on Myrtle avenue but is this normally sufficient? I'm only thinking in terms of logistics - getting steps or a ladder on the tube and Coach may be rather difficult!!!

I am also looking into making a short stop at LCY on my way back, as i will have to go into Waterloo first anyway to get the bus back, so i thought this would be a good use of a spare hour!!. Anyone spotted there, and if so, what is it like, and how easy is it to take photographs there etc, as i realise its in the Docklands area and policing might be quite stringent

Cheers

I'm lucky living a long way outside London, so going to london isnt too bad, and its a change from Bristol Airport!!!

stepladders aren't necessary for Myrtle as you can't get a decent view of the runway anyway.....you're looking at approach shots against the sky. There are one or two places in the carparks along 27R which can give you good runway shots of departing aircraft, but I've never been to them and you have to pay the extortionate car parking fees ;)
