HAYDEN, ID--A small plane crashed around 7 p.m. Monday after appearing to lose power near Pappy Boyington Field in Hayden, ID, but no one was seriously hurt.

One of the two people on board, a flight student, was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

The pilot was walking around after the crash while the flight student did not get up off of the ground, according to witnesses at the scene.

The twin-engine plane crashed into a pick-up parked next to the Kootenai Electric Cooperative building. The wreckage is in the storage yard behind the KEC building.

Authorities on scene say the plane appeared to lose power while practicing touch-and-go landings and dropped quickly out of the sky onto the pick-up after it flew over a small fence.

Federal investigators are now in charge of the crash investigation.

Boyington Field was formerly known as the Coeur d'Alene Airport.

I work right under the traffic pattern at this airport, and if I had of stayed at work for just a few more hours, I could have witnessed it.... :o
