I wonder who was flying it. I only mention it as it's owner has had 2 landing accidents in Spitfires before (both in TD248, the XVI).

PV202 really is an unlucky Spitfire, although it's been 8 years since it was "written off" in the fatal crash at Goodwood.  :-/

It looks like she was either stood still or taxing very slowly due to the bade tips being bent forward. Hopefully a gentle let down onto the belly with minimal structural damage. The engine of course is another story. That will need a complete strip down due to shock loading.

The wooden prop might make a big difference to engine damage. Unless the prop blades can be repaired a replacement might be expensive.

Very unlike that the blades will be repaired I would have though. The shock loading to the whole assembly from the tip to the hub would make me very weary of using it all again. However with regard to it being a wooden prop (at first I did not notice) that could make a big difference to potential engine damage. I would imagine that the hub and the pitch change mechanism will receive some very detailed inspections though.

I believe only 2 Spits in recent history have flown with a metal prop; Mk V AR501 at Old Warden (now being refurbished), and more recently Mk 1 AR213, which was fitted with AR501's prop and spinner during its restoration (AR501 will have a wooden prop and new spinner on its return to the skies).

You'll all be pleased to hear that it arrived back at Duxford today. Under its own power too. :)
