Judging by some of the people in the news on the radio it sounded like another bugger up :-/

Just been reading about this. One report says that BA made about 500 baggage system tests, not one passed.
I am not sure if we should laugh or cry on BA's behalf.

Day one. If a problem's going to surface, that'll be when. I'm sure BA and BAA had the best contingency plans they could have had for the situation. :)

My dad is actually in Paris due to fly IN to T5. OK fair enough. but his flight was due to leave at about 5pm GMT. It is now 10.10pm GMT and he is still there. And to add to the stress, his car is parked at Terminal 4.

I'm sure that being one of the members of their "flying club" with a card I am sure he will have something to say about it and WILL get some airmiles in return! lol

I must say I'm not surprised at all this.

I've experienced all of the London airports and LHR, mainly due to it's size, has always had more problems than the others. I've been in taxiing queues from T1 to 09R for over 30 mins, delayed for over 6 hours on a BA short haul to AMS (bonus being they used a 777 to clear the backlog  ;D ) and bussed airside between terminals to board alternative aircraft.

But it's still the best airport in the world...and I'm sure they'll get it right when T6 and the 3rd runway is in use  ;D  ;)

I've never used an Airport in all of my 74 Years... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]....

...and after watching the trauma of Passengers at Heathrow yesterday, ....and the weekly "Airport" Programme on BBC Television...
...and the various horror stories from around the World...

...I don't think I will bother now...;)...!

Paul...Flying is bad for you!... ;)...!

Ouch. Never, ever, EVER check important papers or documents on disc... or your laptop, if you can avoid it. Carry that stuff aboard with you.
I also never check my house or car keys, checkbook or phone... or anything I would really hate to lose- or even have to wait for.
When I expect to do some flying when I'm away from home, my flight bag comes on the plane with me. No way am I checking my logbook or any of my other flight gear!

I have to check my tools when I travel, unfortunately... but all of that is replaceable. And losing my tools would be a good excuse to goof off for a day or two on one of my trips... ;)

I've been extremely lucky so far, even with many connecting flights... but it's bound to happen sooner or later: some day my bags will one way when I go another, and who knows when I'll see my stuff again...?
