I'll be heading off to university soon and my future coach there, who is also a helicopter fire bomber, is going to try and set my up with a job as he is close friends with the refueller at the airport in North Bay, Ontario (CYYB)

I was just wondering what sort of jobs are available to 18yo's and what sort of work or opportunities i could be looking at doing?

You should PM Flying Trucker; he's been flying in Canada for ages, and could probably advise you.

Depends, if it's a smaller GA airport you may end up be doing EVERYTHING.  It seems as thought he larger the airport, the more specific your job will be.  I worked for a smaller GA (family run) airport where I was basically responsible for everything it seemed.  I fueled/oiled/moved airplanes all around the airport, ensured all above ground and truck fueling systems provided clean and clear fuel, and just about everything else you could imagine!  I also had to repair their crappy fuel trucks rather regularly, helped the mechanics with maintenance on the schools airplanes, and even the pleasure of taking out my boss' garbage.  Oh yeah, and also part security guard and grounds keeper.

But then I worked this last summer at Paine Field, a rather larger airport, and all I did all day was taxi the flight schools airplanes around to the local wash rack and washed 6 airplanes a day, 6 days a week.  :)

Good luck, have fun, and don't get yourself walked on!
