It would appear that investigators are now looking at the aircraft fuel system. Sorry I could not get a clicky to work

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

If it has a history of engine failures then what's the doubt that this one didn't fail...

I think the key is "engine failures linked to fuel".  The turbine didn't fail, the fuel system did (in those cases).  I guess it depends on what you consider "engine".

Supposedly from an industry insider......

At about 700 ft AGL, the auto throttle commanded engine acceleration. One engine started to rollback during and the other engine started to accelerate then 8-10 seconds later began to roll back. Once the flight crew noticed, they pushed the throttles up and the engines' EECs responded but the engines did not. It appears that no fuel was getting to the engines.

The investigation continues to look broadly for a cause of the dual engine rollbacks. Fuel exhaustion is the only item that has been positively ruled out. Aspects that the FAA believes the investigation is concentrating on are:

Now it looks like there was an issue with the fuel on this flight.

The last part of the article says a fuel pump was damaged possibly from lack of fuel.

Looks like the Brittish newspaper The Sun has it all figured out.  Apparently the crash was caused by a telephone call to BA's lost luggage department.  We can all go home now...
