To help speed up departure times at PHL and surrounding airports the F.A.A. has made changes of routes taken out off PHL.

If you move in near an airport what do you expect.

You said it all right there.  Some people... ::)

But he did not, it moved closer to him...........in a manner of speaking

Airport spokeswoman Phyllis Van Istendal said that noise complaints have increased significantly since the new departure headings went into effect but that it's too early to tell if there's a correlation .

I can't say I'm not sympathetic... it's one thing to buy a house right under the approaches and then beef about noise, but very few people understand how approach routes change.
Having lived less than two miles from KEWR for over ten years,
I can attest to the fact that there's a big difference between when they're flying nearby or when they go right over the house, which they do on rare occasions. If every flight started going over my building, I would not be too happy about it.
I love airplane noise, but there's a limit... ;D

Dont'cha mean bureaucratic?   :-/

Unless you were trying to suggest (in a subtle way) that she was responding in an "ass-like" fashion.  :-?

Actually......I kinda' like that. I think I'm going to go add that to my dictionary on spellcheck.      hmmmm "Burro-Cratic"  ...has a nice ring to it...

::)

Just to play devil's advocate though; people can tend to act like the "angry mob" in a Frankenstein movie when incited by the media. I think there is some merit to her statement.

Finally, I think that passengers in overflying jets will be more offended by the pigsty in the guy's yard than the profanities on his roof. He's worried about noise pollution and meanwhile his place looks like the county dump. If only he exerted as much effort on his yard as he did on his roof.......  ::)

You don't catch me out that often, but bureaucratic sounds good to me. I did type that at about 03:00 during night shift, a time that is not really the best for spelling.  ;D

I know how you feel though. The other morning (wee hours) I couldn't spell "guarantee" to save my own life.

You know you're not even in the same ballpark when SPELLCHECK can't find a suitable suggestion!  :-/

It's a fact that only the very few "Aircraft Enthusiasts" appreciate the noise and effects of low flying aircraft... ::)...!

Most other Folks don't...Trust me!....;)..!

There are very strict rules regarding avoiding populated areas around our British Airfields, and anyone disregarding them is very strictly dealt with... >:(...!

I often go out into my garden and wave angrily at Helicopter Pilots flying below the 500 feet AGL limit and rattling the cups and glasses in my kitchen cabinet!
(I feel like mowing similar words in my Garden Lawn)... [smiley=evil.gif]...!

Low flying Passenger and Military Jet Aircraft are a constant source of annoyance to Farmers, affecting their Herds of Sheep, Cattle and Horses...!

The last place I would ever want to live is close to the Flight Path of an Airport/Airfield... :o...!

Paul..... 8-)...!

...Fortunately, I can turn down the Volume of my "Flight Simulator"....
...and even switch it off!...;)...!

most airports that serve jets have noise reduction procedures that require the pilots to climb at the best vertical rate possible until reaching a specified altitude. this usually reduces the noise level outside of a 3 - 4 mile perimeter around airports.

IMHO if you live inside that 3 - 4 mile circle... dont even think about complaining.

Can I volunteer to live within 3 - 4 miles of the airport?  ;D

Actually, my SO's old apartment was right across the street from the end of one of the runways (31) at KMOT.  Being a smaller airport, traffic was not too frequent, so I always was happy to see or hear a jet taking off (mostly DC-9's for Northwest).  Now, we live a bit across town from the airport, and I miss being able to look out the bedroom window and watch the planes.

Sigh.

I guess we all have different priorities.  ;D

Like i've said I have aircraft going over my house everyday and the minimum altitude over my area is 2000 ft.  Sometimes sitting in the house one will go over and after it does my Wife will ask me if I'm going up to scrape the rubber off the roof!! :)  When the are departing using 9L they are using minimum power and at a certain altitude you can hear them throttle up so, the noise of them going out isn't that annoying.  I asked some of my neighbors how they felt about the aircraft going over and they said they are so use to it that they don't hear it anymore.  Where this nice gentlemen lives the altitude of the jets is around 10 to 12 thousand feet.

The way I look at it the FAA will be winning this case because with the revenue that PHL brings in.  It feeds to many hands!!
