Hedging their bets to see what comes out of Toulouse I suppose. They'd look daft with a mega fleet of 787's if the A350 turns out to be a winner - particularly as on the same day as this order was originally announced (27th September) they ordered 12 A380s (I bet in retrospect they wish they'd been a launch customer for the A380, as SIA and Qantas will reap the benefits of that), so are now more openly "mixing" their fleet.
