I was towing a 737-800 back to the hanger today from the run up areas post high power run. Up the taxi way minding my own business, quick chat with ATC and "right turn Clyde". I turned right, my 737 went straight on. I hit the accelerator on the tug, so as not to be introduced to the engine pylon and the aircraft rolled to a gentle stop, braking was unnecessary as it was all up hill. This comes just one week or so after one of our A320's mounted a tug to the tune of a 2 month repair job. Twice in one week would you believe it, the heads of two towing arms gave up the ghost?

Well, where were you when you last had it? Did you check the pockets of your coat?

How about between the couch cushions? Those things are notorious for losing items in!

Retrace you're steps, when was the last time you remember having it?
I bet it will be in the last place you look.

That has to be a scary thing to notice, you driving one way as the multimillion-dollar aircraft you're supposed to be towing goes the other way...

That had to be scary!!!!
Did the same company make both? Sounds like they are using cheap material on the towing arms.
My buddy had a boat trailer pass him one day without a tow vehicle, then he relized it was his!!! He had forgotten to put the safety chains on and also put the cotter pin through the latch. He was lucky it slowed down and went into a field. No damage done but, he never forgot to go over everything twice before he went anywhere!!

Good lookin' out, there... complacency is just as hazardous on the ground as in the air, especially in your work environment.
